WebGrid 7 now supports group row paging when used together with VirtualLoad™ mode. The group row paging significantly improves overall performance by loading only a small number of records (specified in GroupRowPageSize property) when user expands a group row.

This sample demonstrates the new group row paging feature with client-side binding mode and virtual load, which is bound to WebService datasource mode. Try to expand group headers with large number of records and notice the group will be loaded in fraction of seconds. A new group row status bar is also introduced in the last row of the group, allowing users to easily understand the current state of data. Users can load more rows in the related group by clicking on "Load more data" button. Note that the group row status bar will be displayed only when the group has more available rows.

This sample also demonstrates the new WebGrid LINQ provider in the WebService to easily perform data select, insert, update and batch update against LINQ-to-SQL data source. The generic-class architecture simplifies WebService development with type- independent model, allowing data operations to be accomplished in just a single line of code. The WebGrid LINQ provider automatically handles data paging, filtering, sorting, grouping and the new group paging.

To enable group row paging feature, simply set the EnableGroupRowPaging property to true. You can also customize the group row page size by setting the GroupRowPageSize property.
